Stephen Baines qualified from Cambridge University and undertook an Internship at North Carolina State University and a Residency in Small Animal Surgery at the University of Liverpool. He then completed a PhD in tumour immunology at the University of Cambridge and was appointed Clinical Surgeon. He then moved to the Royal Veterinary College, where he was Senior Lecturer in Small Animal Surgery and Head of Surgery.
He is currently Head of Soft Tissue Surgery at Willows Referral Service. He is a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons and holds a Diploma in Comparative Oncology. He is a European Specialist in Small Animal Surgery and an RCVS Specialist in both Small Animal Surgery and Veterinary Oncology
His clinical interests include clinical oncology, particularly cutaneous neoplasia, wound healing and reconstructive surgery.
